SHARED URBANISM
Rethinking Live-Work Neighbourhoods
Year: 2018
Site: Birkenhead, Auckland
Tutor: Tommy Honey
This project intends to implement Live-Work Housing Scheme to intensify Auckland's town centers. It redefines how and where people choose to work and live. A Live-Work environment simply means accommodating essential living and working values into a dense area which takes advantage of increased social connection, walkability, closer proximity to amenities and overall sustainability.
This project aimed to test the capacity of sharing and access private and public area and see how far comfort can be pushed and boundaries can be blurred by maximizing opportunities for informal, spontaneous interactions between the residents, working people and the public. This also informs the digital sharing nature of society, how we are willing to share personal spaces with the public.
